In August 2008, a request from
BBC South East lead to Simon going "back to the floor" and working UKI 705 - the BBC's Satellite Newsgathering Vehicle based in Kent in South East England. It was a valuable opportunity to renew and re-enforce an understanding of the particular demands of the modern news operation. Today's broadcasters demand that "breaking" news be delivered to multiple outlets swiftly and accurately - and a mobile facility is acknowledged to be the staple requirement.
Operating BBC UKI 705.
In addition, the week served to re-afirm Simon's skills in a live environment - facing and solving real world problems. It's those skills that underpin the successes of Simon Haywood LTD working with broadcasters and vendors across the broadcast industry.
The big news story that week, both in the South East and the UK was the "Climate Camp". A week-long protest against the development of a coal-fired power station in the UK.
